Large Sextant
This is a real beauty! With an attractive rosewood case with brass-enforced corners and anchor inlayed on top, this superbly crafted replica of an old captain's sextant used widely in British navy. Very large, 7" piece is also heavy (4 lbs with case). The sextant has very accurately divided German Silver scale, and a very precise gear driven slow motion control for making small adjustments to the index arm. A powerful magnifier will assist in reading the vernier scale. The index mirror has three recessed adjustments.
The sextant's telescope has polished glass lenses and produces a sharp magnified image. There are six tinted swing-arm filters with heavy brass filter mounts. It is a perfect decor, can be used for teaching, etc. Not intended for professional use.

Abney Level
Another nautical, navigation tool finely crafted in brass.
Named after Captain William Abney of the School of Engineering in Chatham, England, in 19th century. Also referred to as an Angle Sextant, or Abney clinometer the Abney level is used to measure the vertical angle or inclination. It consists of a telescope and an adjustable tubular spirit level which is connected to a vertical scale marked in both slope and degrees. When looking through eyepiece, there is a horizontal line that is aligned over the object being measured, and adjacent to the object is a reflected image of the tubular spirit level as viewed from underneath. The level is adjusted until leveling bubble is centered and aligned to the horizontal index line. The angle of inclination or declination is then read from the vernier scale. Really nice desk or shelf decor. Over 7" long, when extended.

I want level(s) @ $42 each. (Low, Canadian Dollars!)
